Art House Dallas: Origin Groups

Art House Dallas is a local nonprofit and one of our ministry partners that serves and supports hundreds of local artists – visual arts, music, and literary – each year through artist formation and outreach opportunities. 

One of the ways we are partnering with them is by hosting small groups as a part of their upcoming Origin series. Origin is comprised of a series of gatherings featuring speakers, presentations, and facilitated discussions. Each year a new theme is chosen as the focus of Origin, which the community walks through together. 

Origin small groups will meet 4 times together: April 15th, May 13th, June 10th, and July 15th. The Closing Session is on August 21st. 

This year's theme is On Darkness. During this group we will explore the themes of suffering and evil. The very existence of these things calls into question the nature and reality of God. Does evil discount the idea of God as omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), and perfectly good? Given the existence of evil, both moral and natural, how can God, who is perfectly powerful and good, allow for the existence of evil? Furthermore, since evil exists and occurs regularly, how can God, powerful and good, exist in the way Scripture reveals?
